WeChat Chat Analyzer
WeChat gives you no way to export a conversation. Paste it instead — that route works, and we would rather say so than send you looking.
Free to try · No credit card · Nothing to download
WeChat tends to hold more of a relationship than anything else people use — messages, money, moments and calls all in one place, often for years. It is also the one major platform with no way to get your own message history back out of it, which means the conversations most worth reading are the hardest to bring anywhere. Pasting a few hundred messages from the desktop app is the whole workaround.
How to copy your WeChat conversation
About two minutes
- 1Open WeChat for Windows or Mac — selecting a range of messages is far easier there than on a phone.
- 2Open the conversation and scroll back to where you want to start.
- 3Drag to select across the messages, then copy.
- 4Paste them into the box on the analyse page.
- 5On a phone you can only copy one message at a time, so use the desktop app if you have it.
What you get back
- An attachment read for both peopleGrounded in the ECR-R, the scale used in actual relationship research — not a personality type.
- The cycle you are both inWho pursues, who withdraws, and what sets it off — quoted from your own messages.
- What actually repairs itSpecific things that have worked between you before, and what to try next.
- Evidence for every claimEach conclusion cites the messages it came from, so you can disagree with it.
Your WeChat conversation is never stored and never used to train anything. It is sent once, analyzed, and discarded. Many chat-analysis tools keep your conversations and train on them — we built ChatMend so that we simply never hold them. Read the policy.
WeChat questions
Why is there no WeChat export?
WeChat provides no user-facing way to download your message history. The Backup and Restore feature in the desktop app produces an encrypted archive that only WeChat itself can read, and phone-to-phone migration is the same thing — neither gives you a readable file.
Can I use a WeChat backup file or a chat migration?
No. Both are encrypted for restoring into WeChat, not for reading. There is nothing we can parse in them, and any tool claiming otherwise is asking for your account credentials.
Does this work for conversations in Chinese?
Mostly. The main analysis is done by a language model that reads Chinese well, so the relationship read holds up. Some of the supporting timing measures look for fixed English phrases and will under-report on a Chinese conversation, so treat those particular numbers as weaker than the main result.
I only have screenshots of the conversation.
Screenshots cannot be read — there is no image processing here, only text. You would have to type out the parts that matter, which is worth it only for a stretch you already know is significant.
