Questions, answered
The honest details on privacy, accuracy, and how ChatMend fits into reflection and therapy.
Is my conversation data private?
Yes. When you paste or upload a conversation, it is parsed in your browser to detect the speakers. When you run an analysis, only the messages you selected are sent over an encrypted HTTPS/TLS connection for processing. That conversation text is processed in real time and isn't retained on our servers after the response is returned.
Do you store my messages?
The raw conversation text you analyze is not kept after the analysis is generated. Your finished report is saved to your account so you can revisit it later, and you can delete any report at any time.
Do you sell my data or use ad trackers?
No. We do not sell your data, share it with data brokers, or use advertising trackers. We do not monetize emotional vulnerability with ad targeting.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. You can delete any individual report from your history, and you can delete your account and its associated data at any time from your account settings.
Who can see my reports?
Your reports are tied to your account and are visible to you when you are signed in. They are not shared publicly or with other users.
Is ChatMend a diagnosis?
No. ChatMend describes communication signals and patterns — not clinical diagnoses. Attachment tendencies are presented as signals, not labels, and ChatMend is not a medical device or a mental health provider.
How accurate is the analysis?
ChatMend is grounded in attachment-informed research and links findings to patterns in your messages, but AI analysis can be wrong and cannot see the full context of your relationship. Treat it as a starting point for reflection, not a final verdict.
What does an attachment “signal” actually mean?
It means the conversation shows tendencies that may lean secure, anxious, avoidant, or fearful-avoidant. These are observations about communication behavior in this conversation — not fixed traits or permanent labels for a person.
What can I analyze?
Text conversations between two people. You can paste the text directly or upload a file — plain text, CSV, or a JSON message export. ChatMend detects the speakers so you can confirm the two to analyze.
How many messages do I need?
You need at least 10 messages between the two selected people for an analysis to run. More messages generally produce a more confident read.
Can I analyze a group chat?
ChatMend analyzes the dynamic between two people. If a conversation includes more than two speakers, you choose the pair you want to focus on.
What are the different analysis depths?
Snapshot is a quick overview. Deeper Dive adds detailed profiles, conflict themes, and recommendations. Comprehensive is the full analysis with quadrant mapping, suggested scripts, and a communication timeline.
Do I need an account?
Yes. You sign in to run an analysis, which also lets your reports sync to your account so you can revisit them across devices.
Can ChatMend replace therapy?
No. ChatMend is designed to support reflection and therapy preparation — not to replace a licensed therapist. It can help you bring clearer questions and a relationship timeline into a session.
How do I use a report with a therapist?
Many people use a report as a starting point: sharing a summary instead of trying to explain months of texts from memory, or naming a recurring pattern they want help with. Your therapist can interpret it in the full context only they have.
What if I'm in crisis?
ChatMend is not for emergencies. If you are in crisis or danger, contact a crisis line or emergency services right away — the numbers are listed at the bottom of this page.
